Turnover in the Swiss service sector fell by 0.8% in June

2.9.2024 - Services turnover adjusted for working days fell by 0.8% in June 2024 compared with the same month last year. This was mainly due to a decline in the economic section "Wholesale and retail trade". However, all other economic sections recorded an increase in turnover. These are provisional findings from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).The economic section "Wholesale and retail trade" recorded a decline in turnover of 4.9% in June 2024 compared with the same month of the previous year, while the "Transportation and storage" section registered a plus of 0.3%. 2.9.2024 - Services turnover adjusted for working days fell by 0.8% in June 2024 compared with the same month last year. This was mainly due to a decline in the economic section "Wholesale and retail trade". However, all other economic sections recorded an increase in turnover. These are provisional findings from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

The economic section "Wholesale and retail trade" recorded a decline in turnover of 4.9% in June 2024 compared with the same month of the previous year, while the "Transportation and storage" section registered a plus of 0.3%. In the economic section "Accommodation and food service activities" (+2.7%), the figures went up in June 2024 compared with June 2023 and the "Information and communication" section also reported a positive result (+5.5%). The economic section "Real estate activities" (+12.7%) as well as the section "Professional, scientific and technical activities" (+10.8%) showed increasing turnover figures. Within this latter section, turnover from "Architectural and engineering activities; technical testing and analysis" recorded the largest increase (+23.3%). Lastly, turnover in the economic section "Administrative and support service activities" also increased (+5.2%). The most substantial increase in this section was seen in "Travel agency, tour operator reservation service and related activities" (+31.9%).
