The consumer price index (IPC) increased by 0.2% in March 2017 compared with the previous month, reaching 100.7 points (December 2015=100). Inflation was 0.6% compared with the same month the previous year. These are the results of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

Results of the new pensions statistics 2015: Large differences between genders and age groups in pillar 2 and 3a old-age benefits

Neuchâtel, 24.03.2017 (FSO) – In 2015 approximately 33,000 persons obtained an old-age pension for the first time from the occupational pension fund (2nd pillar), while some 41,000 persons received a lump-sum withdrawal from their 2nd pillar retirement savings. Men received far higher benefits from the 2nd pillar than women. Pensions obtained before the legal retirement age were on average the highest. These are some of the initial findings of the new pensions statistics, a new data collection compiled by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

Neuchâtel, 24.03.2017 (BFS) – Rund 33’000 Personen bezogen im Jahr 2015 erstmals eine Altersrente aus der beruflichen Vorsorge (2. Säule), etwa 41’000 Personen liessen sich ein Alterskapital aus der 2. Säule auszahlen. Männer erhielten deutlich höhere Leistungen aus der 2. Säule als Frauen. Renten, die vor dem gesetzlichen Rentenalter bezogen wurden, waren im Durchschnitt am höchsten. Dies sind erste Resultate der Neurentenstatistik, einer neuen Erhebung des Bundesamtes für Statistik (BFS).

Alpen- und grenzquerender Personenverkehr 2015: Die meisten Grenzübertritte der Schweizerinnen und Schweizer erfolgten 2015 zu Freizeitzwecken

Neuchâtel, 16.03.2017 (BFS) – 2015 überquerten im Tagesdurchschnitt 2,2 Millionen Personen die Schweizer Grenzen auf der Strasse oder auf der Schiene. Die Schweizer Alpenübergänge wurden von 110’000 Personen pro Tag passiert. Sowohl die Grenzquerungen als auch die Alpenquerungen erfolgten hauptsächlich zu Freizeitzwecken. Dies geht aus einer umfangreichen Erhebung hervor, die das Bundesamt für Statistik (BFS) 2015 an den Grenzposten und den Alpenübergängen der Schweiz durchgeführt hat.

Produzenten- und Importpreisindex im Februar 2017: Produzenten- und Importpreisindex sinkt um 0,2 Prozent

Neuchâtel, 15.03.2017 (BFS) – Der Gesamtindex der Produzenten- und Importpreise sank im Februar 2017 gegenüber dem Vormonat um 0,2 Prozent und erreichte den Stand von 100,2 Punkten (Basis Dezember 2015 = 100). Der Rückgang ist vor allem auf tiefere Preise für Schrott, Mineralölprodukte und pharmazeutische Produkte zurückzuführen. Im Vergleich zum Februar 2016 stieg das Preisniveau des Gesamtangebots von Inland- und Importprodukten um 1,3 Prozent. Dies geht aus den Zahlen des Bundesamts für Statistik (BFS) hervor.

Neuchâtel, 08.03.2017 (BFS) – Der Landesindex der Konsumentenpreise (LIK) nahm im Februar 2017 im Vergleich zum Vormonat um 0,5 Prozent zu und belief sich auf 100,4 Punkte (Dezember 2015=100). Die Teuerung gegenüber dem entsprechenden Vorjahresmonat betrug 0,6 Prozent. Dies geht aus den Zahlen des Bundesamts für Statistik (BFS) hervor.

Für die Zunahme um 0,5 Prozent im Vergleich zum Vormonat sind mehrere Faktoren verantwortlich. Die Preise für den Luftverkehr sowie für Gemüse sind stark angestiegen. Ebenfalls eine Preiserhöhung registrierten die Pauschalreisen ins Ausland. Die Preise für Heizöl, Kaffee und Beeren sind hingegen gesunken.

Schweizerische Lohnstrukturerhebung 2014: Lohnunterschiede zwischen Frauen und Männern nehmen weiter ab

Neuchâtel, 07.03.2017 (BFS) – Im Jahr 2014 nahmen Frauen rund zwei von drei Arbeitsstellen ein, bei denen der monatliche Bruttolohn für eine Vollzeitstelle weniger als 4000 Franken beträgt. Gemäss dem Bundesamt für Statistik (BFS) gehen im privaten Sektor die Lohnungleichheiten zwischen den Geschlechtern weiterhin schrittweise zurück. Betrugen sie im Jahr 2010 insgesamt 23,6 Prozent, waren es 2014 noch 19,5 Prozent. Im privaten Sektor blieben 39,1 Prozent der Lohnunterschiede zwischen Frauen und Männern unerklärt.

Neuchâtel, 06.03.2017 (BFS) – Das Bundesamt für Statistik (BFS) publiziert erstmalig Daten zu den wachstumsstarken Unternehmen, d.h. zu Unternehmen, die über drei Jahre hinweg ein durchschnittliches jährliches Beschäftigungswachstum von mehr als 10 Prozent aufweisen. Mit dieser neuen Statistik kann die Entwicklungsdynamik der Unternehmen in der Schweiz näher beleuchtet werden. Die ersten Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Schweiz 2014 insgesamt 4594 wachstumsstarke Unternehmen zählte. Diese trugen zwischen 2011 und 2014 zur Schaffung von 88’000 neuen Stellen bei.

Detailhandelsumsätze: Umsätze im Schweizer Detailhandel gehen im Januar 2017 zurück

Neuchâtel, 02.03.2017 (BFS) – Die Detailhandelsumsätze sind im Januar 2017 im Vergleich zum Vorjahr nominal um 2,0 Prozent gefallen. Saisonbereinigt sind die nominalen Detailhandelsumsätze gegenüber dem Vormonat um 0,6 Prozent gestiegen. Dies zeigen die provisorischen Ergebnisse des Bundesamtes für Statistik (BFS).

Die realen, ebenfalls um Verkaufs- und Feiertagseffekte bereinigten Detailhandelsumsätze sind im Januar 2017 im Vorjahresvergleich um 1,4 Prozent gefallen. Die reale Entwicklung berücksichtigt die Teuerung. Gegenüber dem Vormonat stiegen die realen Detailhandelsumsätze saisonbereinigt um 0,6 Prozent.

Employment barometer in the 4th quarter 2016: Employment growth remains stable

Neuchâtel, 27.02.2017 (FSO) – In the 4th quarter 2016, total employment (number of jobs) rose by 0.3% in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier (+0.2% with previous quarter). In full-time equivalents, employment in the same period grew by 0.1%. The Swiss economy counted 3,800 more vacancies than in the corresponding quarter of the previous year (+7.8%). The other indicators also showed positive growth. These are the findings from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

Construction Industry Production, Orders and Turnover Statistics in 4th quarter 2016
Neuchâtel, 23.02.2017 (FSO) – Secondary sector production declined 0.8% in 4th quarter 2016 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Turnover fell by 2.1%. This is shown by provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

Industrial Production
In comparison with the previous year, industrial production declined in October by 0.2%, in November by 3.3%, and in December by 0.1%. For the whole of 4th quarter 2016, production declined by 1.2% in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier.

Statistics on tourist accommodation in December and year 2016: Overnight stays declined by 0.3percent in 2016 in Switzerland

Neuchâtel, 21.02.2017 (FSO) – The hotel sector registered 35.5 million overnight stays in Switzerland in 2016, representing a moderate decline of 0.3% (-96,000 overnight stays) compared with 2015. Foreign visitors registered 19.3 million overnight stays, a decline of 1.5% (-288,000). The number of overnight stays by domestic visitors (16.2 million) showed an increase of 1.2% (+192,000) and thus registering a positive result for the fourth consecutive year. In December 2016, 2.4 million overnight stays were registered, representing a decrease of 0.8% (-19,000). These are the final results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

1.5% increase in the number of employed persons. The unemployment rate based on the ILO definition falls to 4.3%

Neuchâtel, 16.02.2017 (FSO) – The number of employed persons in Switzerland rose by 1.5% between the 4th quarter 2015 and the 4th quarter 2016. During the same period, the unemployment rate as defined by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) decreased from 4.7% to 4.3%. The EU’s unemployment rate fell from 9.1% to 8.2%. These are some of the results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

Production, orders and turnover statistics of the secondary sector in the 3rd quarter 2016

After one and a half years turnover positive once again
Neuchâtel, 24.11.2016 (FSO) – Industrial production in the secondary sector rose by 1.1% in 3rd quarter 2016 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Turnover also rose by 1.1%. Orders received increased by 6.6% and orders on hand grew by 2.8%. This is shown by provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
In comparison with the previous year industrial production grew in July by 2.6%, in August by 0.3%, then fell in September (-1.5%). For the whole of 3rd quarter 2016 production increased by 0.4% in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier.

Neuchâtel, 04.11.2016 (FSO) – The Swiss hotel industry registered 3.4 million overnight stays in September 2016, which corresponds to a growth of 0.7% (+23,000 overnight stays) compared with September 2015. Domestic visitors registered 1.6 million overnight stays, i.e. an increase of 1.0% (+16,000). Foreign visitors registered 1.8 million overnight stays, i.e. an increase of 0.4% (+7300). These are provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

The Producer Price Index (PPI) or officially named "Producer and Import Price Index" describes the changes in prices for producers and importers. For us it is interesting because it is used in the formula for the Real Effective Exchange Rate. When producers and importers profit on lower price changes when compared to other countries, then the Swiss Franc reduces its overvaluation. The Swiss PPI values of -6% in 2015 (see below), compared to -3% in Europe or -1% in the U.S., diminished the overvaluation. See more in Is the Swiss Franc overvalued?.
