2016 saw fewer passengers on Switzerland’s highest railway

The two-plus-hour train ride up from Interlaken takes you to the Jungfraujoch visitors center, 3,454 metres above sea level. Construction of the line began in July 1896 and took until February 1912 to complete. 30 people died during construction.
