Swiss Industrial Production Q4: Minus 0.8 percent YoY, Construction: Minus 2.1 percent YoY

Construction Industry Production, Orders and Turnover Statistics in 4th quarter 2016 Neuchâtel, 23.02.2017 (FSO) – Secondary sector production declined 0.8% in 4th quarter 2016 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Turnover fell by 2.1%. This is shown by provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO). Industrial Production In comparison with the previous year, industrial production declined in October by 0.2%, in November by 3.3%, and in December by 0.1%. For the whole of 4th quarter 2016, production declined by 1.2% in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Production rose by 0.5% in building, civil engineering also registered an increase (+5.4%). Lastly, specialised construction activities registered an increase of 0.8% in their production. Decline in turnover Industrial turnover in October fell by 1.1% in comparison with the previous year, and in November (-4.1%) and in December (-1.0%). For the whole of 4th quarter 2016 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier, turnover registered a decline of 2.0%.

Neuchâtel, 23.02.2017 (FSO) – Secondary sector production declined 0.8% in 4th quarter 2016 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Turnover fell by 2.1%. This is shown by provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

Industrial Production

In comparison with the previous year, industrial production declined in October by 0.2%, in November by 3.3%, and in December by 0.1%. For the whole of 4th quarter 2016, production declined by 1.2% in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier.

Construction

Construction production increased by 1.2% in 4th quarter 2016 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Production rose by 0.5% in building, civil engineering also registered an increase (+5.4%). Lastly, specialised construction activities registered an increase of 0.8% in their production.

Decline in turnover

Industrial turnover in October fell by 1.1% in comparison with the previous year, and in November
(-4.1%) and in December (-1.0%). For the whole of 4th quarter 2016 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier, turnover registered a decline of 2.0%.

Construction Turnover

Construction turnover fell by 2.3% in 4th quarter 2016 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Turnover fell by 1.8% in building, civil engineering registered an increase of 1.8% while specialized construction activities posted a decline of 3.5%.
