Swiss are the world’s wealthiest, says report

In 2016, there were 22 billionaires in Switzerland, 1.53 times the per capita number in the US, and more than Spain (21), Sweden (20) and Australia (20). In 2016, there were around 716,000 adults with a net worth of US$ 1 million or more, close to 12% of all adults. Much of Switzerland’s wealth comes from the strength of the Swiss franc. In constant franc terms net average (mean) wealth has increased 44% from US$ 401,400 to US$ 577,400 since 2000. Using actual exchange rates it has risen by 141% from US$ 233,500 to US$ 561,900.
