In a small town north of Minden, Petershagen on the Weser, I was born after the end of World War II. The traces of my ancestors point to Lower Saxony-North Germany, including Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt. My parents grew up in Hamburg.

After years of activity as head of the Entrepreneurship Institute for Family Businesses / ASU (1983-2010) I have now been working for the Friedrich August von Hayek Society, of which I am the managing director and initiator, and the Friedrich-August von Hayek Foundation for a free society whose chairman I am, concentrated, besides a lot of free journalistic activities. At the moment I'm in the process of professionalizing this institution and I am glad about every help http://www.hayek.de.

As a (honorary) professor at the University of Potsdam, I teach theory of order at the WISO faculty in the winter semester, economics and philosophy of the welfare state in the summer semester; after two decades teaching at the University of Bonn.

I would like to mention memberships: the Mont Pelérin Society, an international club founded in 1947 by dedicated thinkers of freedom and the like. a. Friedrich August von Hayek, Milton Friedman, Wilhelm Röpke, Ludwig von Mises as founding members.
">I am also a member of the association "Mehr Demokratie e.V.", which advocates more direct democracy in Germany, in a club of nature friends (Naturschutzbund Germany e.V., NABU), and by its own motion also a "liberal humanist" member of the Catholic Church.

I am married and father of two daughters, Charlotte and Marlene.
