In addition, improvements have been made to transport infrastructure, improving access to a number of locations. Thirdly, an overall increase in the supply of homes has helped. And finally, rents on properties put on the market have fallen, as have the prices of those for sale. And while the frequency of house moves has risen, the reasons remained the same: wanting to start a family or dissatisfaction with current home. Around 15% of renters surveyed were not happy with their dwelling or their property manager. The majority of moves occurred in the cantons of Zurich, Bern and Vaud. Relative to population, the highest rate of house moving was recorded in Geneva (14.3%). The rates were lower in Vaud (12.9%) and Basel (12.8%).

The high rate in Geneva stood in contrast to the low number of dwellings put on the rental market. According to Wüest Partner, this shows that a large portion of those looking for a place to live find a place through their personal network.
