Retail sales of food, drinks and tobacco registered a decline in nominal turnover of 4.3% (in real terms –2.8%), whereas the non-food sector registered a nominal plus of 2.2% (in real terms +2.3%). |

Excluding service stations, the retail sector showed a seasonally adjusted increase in nominal turnover of 0.8% compared with the previous month (in real terms +0.9%). Retail sales of food, drinks and tobacco registered a plus of 1.1% (in real terms +1.2%). The non-food sector showed a minus of 0.2% (in real terms 0.0%).

The hotel sector registered 11.4 million overnight stays in Switzerland in the first half of 2021, representing an increase of 14.3% (+1.4 million) compared with the same period of 2020. With a total of 9.2 million units, domestic demand rose by 55.3% (+3.3 million). Foreign visitors registered a 45.4% decrease (–1.8 million) with 2.2 million overnight stays.
