The ageing of the economically active population is associated with an increased labour participation of 55 to 64 year-olds: between 2010 and 2015 the economic activity rate of this age group rose by 5.3 percentage points to 75.8%. The average age at retirement has also increased and in 2015 was 65.5 years (+0.5 years compared with 2011). These are the findings from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

Neuchâtel, 19.04.2016 (FSO) – In 2015 the average age of the economically active population was 41.6 years (+0.7 years compared with 2010). The ageing of the economically active population is associated with an increased labour participation of 55 to 64 year-olds: between 2010 and 2015 the economic activity rate of this age group rose by 5.3 percentage points to 75.8%.
