Healthcare Freedom

Summary:
As the Omicron variation of COVID-19 continues to spread, the American people need to be asking themselves an important question: Do they want healthcare freedom or not?  If not, then healthcare will remain under the control of government — the federal government and the state and local governments. That will mean continued and growing healthcare tyranny in the form of mandatory lockdowns, mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and undoubtedly other forms of healthcare mandates. But that’s not all. Remember: There was a major healthcare crisis before COVID, which was rooted in Medicare and Medicaid, America’s two massive socialist healthcare programs. That’s what Obamacare was all about — to try to resolve the healthcare crisis brought on by the adoption of these two

Healthcare Freedom

But that’s not all. Remember: There was a major healthcare crisis before COVID, which was rooted in Medicare and Medicaid, America’s two massive socialist healthcare programs. That’s what Obamacare was all about — to try to resolve the healthcare crisis brought on by the adoption of these two socialist programs. That’s also why statists were increasingly calling for a full-fledged socialist healthcare system, like the one that exists in Cuba.

If Americans, on the other hand, decide they want to go the freedom route — which is the route that I favor — then it is necessary to separate healthcare and the state, just as our ancestors separated church and state. In other words, no more governmental involvement in healthcare at the federal, state, or local levels.

That necessarily means that governments at all levels would lack the legal authority to involve themselves in healthcare issues. Healthcare would be an entirely private matter. Whenever a pandemic were to hit, people would look to the healthcare industry for guidance and make their own decisions accordingly.

Moreover, a free-market healthcare system would necessarily rid America of its two massive socialist programs, Medicare and Medicaid, along with the enormously high taxes that fund them. Healthcare would be entirely a free-market activity.

One caveat: Conservatives love to reform socialist and regulatory programs and call such reforms a “free-market approach to healthcare.” They are nothing of the sort. Conservatives are only deluding themselves and others who fall for this misleading rhetoric. Reform is reform, not freedom. Reform leaves infringements on liberty intact and simply tries to improve them. Freedom necessary entails the removal, not the reform, of infringements on liberty.

How could Americans achieve healthcare freedom? The same way that our ancestors achieved religious liberty — through a constitutional amendment. It could read “No law shall be enacted by the federal, state, and local governments respecting healthcare or abridging the free exercise thereof.”

Healthcare liberty is the only solution to the morass into which our nation has been plunged by Medicare, Medicaid, and the governmental response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The sooner we separate healthcare and the state, the sooner our nation will be on the road toward liberty, health, peace, prosperity, and harmony.
