Unemployment Rate (not seasonally adjusted) Registered unemployment in March 2017 – According to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) surveys, 152,280 unemployed persons were registered at the regional employment services centers (RAV) at the end of March 2017, 7,529 less than in the previous month. The unemployment rate thus fell from 3.6% in February 2017 to 3.4% in the reporting month. Compared to the previous year, this corresponds to a decrease of 1’344 persons (-7.1%). Job search in March 2017 A total of 217’248 jobseekers were registered, 6’379 less than in the previous month.

Youth unemployment in March 2017 Youth unemployment (15 to 24 year olds) fell by 1,545 persons (-8.1%) to 17,563. Compared to the previous year, this corresponds to a decrease of 1’344 persons (-7.1%). Job search in March 2017 A total of 217’248 jobseekers were registered, 6’379 less than in the previous month. Compared to the same period of the previous year, this figure decreased by 939 persons (-0.4%). Reported vacancies in March 2017 The number of vacancies reported to RAV increased by 90 to 12’131 posts. Calculated work in January 2017 In January 2017 6’217 persons were affected by short-time work, 867 persons more (+ 16.2%) than in the previous month. The number of firms affected increased by 66 units (+ 13.9%) to 541. The working hours decreased by 85’189 (+ 31.4%) to 356’691 hours. In the same period of the previous year (January 2016), 342,268 hours of absence had been registered, which had spread to 5’676 persons in 589 companies. Controls in January 2017 According to the provisional figures of the unemployment insurance funds, the number of persons who had exhausted their right to unemployment compensation during the month of January 2017 amounted to 3’274 persons. |
