Number of unemployed and Job seekersYouth unemployment in September 2019 Youth unemployment (aged 15-24) decreased by 490 (-3.7%) to 12,652. Compared to the same month last year, this represents a decrease of 1,072 persons (-7.8%). Unemployed 50-64 years in September 2019 The number of unemployed aged 50-64 decreased by 7 persons (-0.0%) to 27,421. Compared to the same month of the previous year, this corresponds to a decrease by 2’036 persons (-6.9%). Job seekers in September 2019 A total of 171’423 jobseekers were registered, 1’574 more than in the previous month. Compared to the same period of the previous year, this number fell by 7,076 persons (-4.0%). Reported vacancies in September 2019 On 1 July 2018, the obligation to register professional types with an unemployment rate of at least 8% was introduced throughout Switzerland. The number of vacancies reported to RAV decreased by 353 to 38,125 in September. Of the 38,125 jobs, 24,884 were subject to mandatory reporting. Billed short-time work in July 2019 In July 2019, 744 persons were affected by short-time work, 763 fewer (-50.6%) than in the previous month. The number of affected companies decreased by 26 units (-31.0%) to 58. The lost working hours decreased by 14’885 (-25.0%) to 44’665 hours. In the same period of the previous year (July 2018), 21,451 lost hours had been registered, spread over 416 persons in 59 establishments. Deductions in July 2019 According to preliminary figures from the unemployment insurance funds, the number of persons who had exhausted their right to unemployment benefit during the month of July 2019 amounted to 3’028 persons. |
